At Syngentic, innovation thrives on curiosity — and our newest intern, Mohammed Chowdhury, embodies that spirit perfectly. A fourth-year Computer Science student at Drexel University, Mohammed joins the Syngentic team as a Business Analyst Intern, bringing with him a strong academic background, hands-on project experience, and a passion for using technology to make a meaningful impact.
A Mind Built for Exploration
Mohammed is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science with concentrations in Cybersecurity and Computer Vision. His interest in technology began at a young age, when he became fascinated by how computers function and how innovation could solve complex problems. Over time, that curiosity developed into a deeper desire to understand the mechanics of computing and how technology can improve people’s lives.
Throughout his time at Drexel, Mohammed has taken part in extracurricular programs and technical courses that introduced him to programming, hardware, and problem-solving providing him with experiences that strengthened both his technical skills and his belief that “technology can be a powerful tool for helping others”.
From the Classroom to Real-World Projects
Mohammed’s journey through computer science has been defined by hands-on experience and collaboration. One of his early projects involved exploring both front-end and back-end development, where he learned not only key technologies but also the importance of teamwork and effective communication.
He later interned with a robotics team at the University of Pennsylvania, contributing to the design and development of a custom robot equipped with sensors and control systems — an experience that helped him better understand hardware-software integration and real-world problem-solving.
Beyond academics, Mohammed’s co-op placements have played a major role in shaping his professional skills. His first co-op was with Drexel IT, where he worked as an IT Support Specialist providing technical assistance to faculty, staff, and students. His second co-op was at Johnson & Johnson, where he served as a Data Engineer and worked on integrating Tableau Pulse to create customized metrics for enhanced user experience.
Together, these experiences deepened his understanding of data systems, analytics tools, and how technology can drive smarter business decisions.
Why Syngentic? A Place Where Technology Meets Impact
When asked what motivated him to pursue an internship with Syngentic, Mohammed explained that it stemmed from “a deep interest in using technology and data to solve real-world problems and improve lives”. He was drawn to the company’s mission to make AI and data more accessible and actionable for all users and admired Syngentic’s strategic partnerships with leaders like SAP and Databricks, which reflect a forward-thinking approach to innovation.
Mohammed’s connection to Syngentic actually began earlier. He first learned about the company through a Drexel University career portal posting and applied during his third year. Although he wasn’t selected at the time, he stayed engaged, following Syngentic’s growth and initiatives until he was offered a position this year.
Looking back, he reflects on that persistence as worthwhile, saying that “finding a workplace that aligns with your interests and values is always worth the wait”.
Excitement for the Road Ahead
As a Business Analyst Intern, Mohammed will be focusing on SAP Build, SAP Business Data Cloud, and Databricks, using these platforms to build small-scale solutions and help troubleshoot customer issues . This work allows him to explore how enterprise technologies are used in real-world environments and how data can improve business processes.
When asked what excites him most about joining the Syngentic team, Mohammed highlighted the company’s innovative culture: “What excites me most about joining the Syngentic team is the chance to be part of a fast-moving, innovative environment where technology plays a central role in solving real-world problems”. He’s eager to collaborate with talented professionals, grow his technical skills, and gain hands-on experience with tools shaping the future of analytics and business strategy.
A Culture of Collaboration and Empowerment
Since joining Syngentic, Mohammed has been particularly impressed by the close-knit and collaborative culture. He describes the company as a place where “everyone is genuinely supportive and willing to help,” and where mentorship and flexibility are key parts of the learning process.
He summarizes Syngentic’s culture in three words: “Empowering, collaborative, and genuinely people-first”. He adds that Syngentic feels like “a family where everyone is invested in each other’s growth,” and appreciates the trust and flexibility given to interns from day one.
Growing with Purpose
During his time at Syngentic, Mohammed hopes to grow both his technical and strategic abilities. He looks forward to learning how platforms like SAP and Databricks can build smarter, scalable solutions that support digital transformation. At the same time, he wants to strengthen his communication and analytical skills, learning to “bridge the gap between business needs and technology”.
His long-term goals reflect this same focus. In the next few years, Mohammed envisions himself becoming a professional who can “bridge the gap between business strategy and technology” and use AI and enterprise platforms to design scalable solutions that make a real impact.
Mentorship, Learning, and Looking Ahead
For Mohammed, this internship is more than just a job, it’s an important step toward achieving his career goals. He values the mentorship and flexibility Syngentic provides, explaining that the company’s environment “is incredibly supportive” and that he’s learning how to approach problems strategically, communicate across teams, and contribute to meaningful solutions.
He believes the experience will prepare him to take on more complex challenges in the future, lead with insight, and continue building a career that blends technology with impactful business outcomes.
Life Beyond Work
Outside of his academic and professional commitments, Mohammed enjoys spending his free time in ways that keep him grounded and balanced. He finds peace in prayer, loves reading, and enjoys spending time outdoors by going on nature walks, traveling, and exploring new places. He’s also a fan of sports like cricket, soccer, and badminton, which help him stay active and energized. Above all, he values spending quality time with his family, which he says keeps him centered and motivated.
He also has a lesser-known talent — a passion for learning languages. Mohammed currently knows four languages and is working on improving his Spanish and Arabic. He explains that this hobby helps him become “a better communicator and listener,” which ties naturally into his work at Syngentic.
Words to Live By
Mohammed’s outlook on life is shaped by a favorite saying from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him):
“Take advantage of five before five—your youth before your old age, your health before your sickness, your wealth before your poverty, your free time before your preoccupation, and your life before your death.”
He says this advice reminds him to make the most of his time and opportunities; whether in his studies, his work, or his personal development.
A Vision for the Future
If given the chance to work on a dream project, Mohammed would love to create his own AI assistant, similar to Jarvis from Iron Man — an intelligent system that could integrate across his devices, automate routines, and help with learning and productivity.
As he continues his internship at Syngentic, Mohammed’s curiosity, focus, and collaborative spirit make him a perfect fit for the company’s mission of redefining integration and intelligence. His journey is just beginning, and we can’t wait to see the impact he’ll make.
